Forest Target Top Coaches After Postecoglou Sacking

The club has apparently initiated talks with Sean Dyche concerning their leadership role, after the termination of Ange Postecoglou.

Evangelos Marinakis, a wealthy shipping magnate, made the decision to fire Postecoglou only six weeks into his appointment, in the middle of the club's heavy home loss to Chelsea.

The Greek businessman was present at the Forest's stadium but apparently exited the stadium not long after the first hour, with the team losing two-nil. A senior official afterwards informed Postecoglou of his termination.

Nottingham Forest were evaluating candidates for their former boss after their humiliating European setback at their own stadium to Midtjylland before the fixture pause, when fans voiced disapproval at the head coach.

Postecoglou's departure after just eight matches makes his time in charge the shortest in Premier League history, a single day fewer than former Charlton boss Les Reed lasted at Charlton Athletic.

The former coach allegedly said his goodbyes with players in the team's changing area before leaving the City Ground on matchday, snapping selfies with supporters as he left.

Managerial Targets

Roberto Mancini and Dyche are each unemployed, while the Forest owner is a longstanding admirer of Silva, whom he once hired at his Greek club. Silva's agreement with Fulham, which expires at the conclusion of the campaign, is thought to contain a buyout clause of about £8m.

Nottingham Forest are willing to offer a fee for a manager but are cautious of profitability and sustainability regulations after sacking a second boss in two months, plus a window investment of about £200m on a dozen signings.

Insider Information

The Australian replaced Nuno Espírito Santo, whose relationship with the owner worsened over the selection of Edu as football chief across his clubs.

The Italian has been without a job since exiting his post as Saudi Arabia manager a year ago. He once guided the Sky Blues to their maiden EPL crown in 2011-12 and brings experience.

Dyche, a former Forest trainee, lives close to the stadium and his longtime assistants both former players are ex-Forest players, part of the team the last season before the club were in Europe, in that era.

Next Steps

The contract duration Marinakis is willing to offer could play a crucial role in moving discussions forward with contenders over the immediate future.

Nottingham Forest are back in play in the European competition against the Portuguese side on matchday, by which time it is anticipated the new manager will be in place; Forest have a single point from a six on offer.
